Beading & Embroidery Workshops in NYC
Craft your story, one stitch at a time.
Step into the world of Pelta Workshops, where embroidery becomes ritual and beadwork a path to healing. Led by the Colombian artist, educator, and founder Ale Mejía Torres & the Colombian architect and artist whose passion for embroidery was passed down by her grandmother Vale Cadena these workshops invite you to slow down and create with intention. Whether you're a complete beginner or a curious creative, our classes are designed to nurture your hands, heart, and heritage.
Rooted in Colombian traditions, each workshop blends textile techniques with mindful practices. You’ll learn to bead and embroider meaningful designs, while exploring themes like femininity, identity, and memory. We celebrate slow fashion and storytelling, one stitch at a time.
✨ What Makes Our Workshops Unique:
-
Led by Colombian artisans with deep roots in embroidery, fashion, and art therapy
-
Small, intimate classes (max 10–15 participants) to ensure personal guidance
-
All materials included – beads, threads, embroidery hoops, and curated take-home kits
-
A sensory experience – often paired with music, scent (essential oils), and a touch of magic
-
Held in welcoming NYC spaces – from cozy studios to restaurants and cultural venues
-
Bilingual setting – Classes are in English & Spanish
Each gathering is more than a class. It’s a space for creative resistance, healing, and connection. We believe embroidery is not just decorative — it’s a way to honor stories that weren’t written, but passed down through hands and thread.
